There was a report that between the period of January 2010 and September 2015, National Bureau of Statistics disclosed that Nigerian spent nothing less than N20.2 trillion on importation of crude oil such as diesel, petrol, and kerosene.
Data revealed that 16,679,065,103 litres was imported at the cost of N6,450,576,065,479.43 on Gas, Oil and diesel within the same period of five years.

The figures which was jointly compiled by both the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) and the NBS that was released at the weekend made it known that N12, 529, 746, 397, 978. 48 was spent on the importation of 102,374,588,480.91 litres of petrol (Premium Motor Spirit).
