On this day in 2009, Gunmen attacked two oil facilities operated by
Royal Dutch Shell, in Southern part of Nigeria. A local militant leader
claimed responsibility for the attack in a letter and threatened
further violence.
More so, on this day in 2014, Niger security officials...
arrested about 20
Boko Haram Islamist militants from Nigeria who were suspected of
planning attacks in Niger’s south east border town of Diffa.
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (Mend), said they
are battling to force the federal government to devote more oil-industry
funds to the southern region, which remains deeply poor despite its
great natural bounty.
